TREADMILL EXERCISE (STRESS) TEST
With the effort test, it is investigated whether there is a cardiovascular disease at a level that will disrupt the nourishment of the heart muscle by increasing the workload of the heart during effort. During the effort test, information is obtained about the effort capacity of the patient, heart rate and blood pressure changes during effort, and whether there is any complaint during the effort. In addition, continuous ECG monitoring can be performed during effort and any changes in heart rhythm can be recorded.

How is the treadmill exercise test performed?
The treadmill exercise test is based on the treadmill device, periodically recording blood pressure and ECG, after monitoring the heart through electrodes affixed to the chest area of the patient.
Is any preparation needed for the stress test?
It is preferred that the patient has eaten something light. It is not preferred to be done on an empty stomach or immediately after a heavy meal.
It will increase the comfort of the test for the patient if the patient wears a comfortable piece of clothing such as trousers, shorts or tracksuits and sports shoes in which they can walk comfortably.
Stopping some heart medications (especially some medications used for the treatment of hypertension) 1 or 2 days before the procedure may increase the sensitivity of the test. It would be the most appropriate approach to consult your own doctor on this issue.
